The congregation of the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of the Angels was founded in Sherbrooke by Florina Gervais (Mother Marie du Sacré-Coeur) and Chan Tsi Kwan (Mother Marie-Gabriel). They were granted official status by Mgr Paul LaRocque on September 7th 1922. The co-founders had been recruiting missionaries and were getting organized in the diocese since 1919, in such a way that a few days following their recognition, five of the eight professed nuns were sent to China. It was the first of several international missions that took place over the following decades.

While recruiting and supporting new missionaries, the nuns were in charge of various charitable organizations, teaching and providing care to the children of the diocese of Sherbrooke. In addition, the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of the Angels were busy with the Pastoral and Missionary animation in various parishes of the diocese. They were also present in Lennoxville, Beebe, Sainte-Edwidge and Sherbrooke. Still active nowadays, they welcome and support immigrant families recently settled in the archdiocese of Sherbrooke.
