In the early 1960's, the Dominicaines des Saints-Anges Gardiens approached the ministère de la Famille et du Bien-Être Social for the construction of a learning institution dedicated to socially challenged young girls. As it opened in 1965, the religious order took on the administration of the institution built at 1621 Prospect Street. The physical environment and the educational methods were meant to prepare more adequatly young girls to adapt to a social life. At the end of the school year 1971, the Dominicaines des Saints-Anges gardiens withdrew from the organization. The establishment is presently integrated into the health and social services network of the Estrie region.
